Events

Emerging in 1871 with the Risca North Colliery, a band was formed. It later became known as Crosskeys Silver Band in the early 1900s and practiced in the Primitive Methodist Hall, Crosskeys, in 1902. After the Second World War, the band moved to The Tredegar Arms Hotel, and then to the Crosskeys Rugby Club complex in 1963. In the early 1980s, their rehearsal room was demolished for the A467 trunk road, leading to a new headquarters in Pandy Park, officially opened in 1982. The junior band saw success in 1981, becoming Gwent Youth Champions and performing at the Royal Albert Hall, London. The senior band also achieved promotion to the second section of the South East Wales Brass Band Grading System in 1980. They qualified for the National Finals in Harrogate in 1998 and at the Royal Albert Hall, London in 2000. The band experienced flooding in their HQ in 2020 and again in November 2024 at the Pandy Park complex.
